Why is Bamboo good to use? October 24, 2009

Bamboo is widely recognized as a "green" wood however most of the time people fail to realize why. Bamboo is green because it is a rapidly renewable material that is easy to grow, grows quickly and can be used in a wide variety of building materials. Bamboo is an incredible resource that should only continue to be used as the sustainability movement grows. However, make sure that you consider using locally refurbished wood products before you buy any new bamboo because more than likely you do not live near the bamboo source and the amount of energy that is wasted transporting the bamboo to you for your project may just offset any environmental benefit you think you are getting. Buy local.
